Chelsea give the green light for Brazilian defender to leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have given the green light for young fullback Wallace to join Portuguese giants Benfica, reported SambaFoot . The Brazilian was signed by Chelsea late last year but saw out the rest of the Blues’ 2012-13 season with his former employers Fluminese and only joined up with his Chelsea teammates this summer.
Wallace played as a right back for the Brazilian outfit and though the defender is highly rated in his native Brazil, he is still a greenhorn when it comes to European football. Jose Mourinho has perhaps made the right decision to send the player off to another club to gain more experience before playing with the Blues on a permanent basis.
“He’s a very good player,” said Jose Mourinho last week. “I knew him before. He’s very mature for his age, comfortable with the ball. He has the quality of a Brazilian full-back, likes to attack and create. He’s a good player and he won’t be staying with us, because we have Ivanovic and Azpilicueta for the same position. He’s also non-EC so we’ll not get the visa, it’ll be too early, so he’ll go on loan for a season. We’ll get the best option for him, in Europe. We want him to adapt. We’ll see the best of him: he has talent and is one more investment for this club, a good investment, because the kid is a very good player,” added the Portuguese coach.

Serie A club AS Roma were also pursuing the full back and wanted him as a part of player plus cash deal for Daniel de Rossi. However, Benfica has trumped the Italian outfit to acquire the services of yet another shining young star from South America.
