Promising signs shown by Fernando Torres.

Fernando Torres is showing some promising signs ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League campaign.
Torres has been branded one of the worst signings in history since joining Chelsea for £50million and so far failing to hit top form.

He has in recent times however shown glimpses of his former self, most notably his fantastic solo effort in this years Europa League final, perhaps his best and most important goal in his Chelsea career so far.
The Spaniard also won the Golden boot award in this summers Confederations cup and became the first ever player to score four goals in a single game in the competition.
Torres’ electric pace was a key part of the player who impressed us all back in his Liverpool days, his ability to beat a defender with ease and provide a killer finished made him one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football.
Since moving to Chelsea, Torres has appeared to be half a yard slower and it has costed him dearly. Rafa Benitez ordered him to hit the gym to bulk up and there has been some distinct differences in his figure.
The Spanish International is now able to fend of defenders when needed and his hold-up play has been noticeably better, he can now hold up the ball and wait for his team-mates to catch up with the play.
With his sudden, increased fitness his pace has also slightly improved. Whether this is a physical change or just Torres growing in confidence remains to be seen but it’s very good to see.
If Fernando Torres stays at Chelsea for the upcoming season then Jose Mourinho will undoubtebly have something to work with, he may never become the player he once was but he can certainly be of use to the team.
