What we learned? – London is Blue

What a fantastic last couple of days this has been, first Manchester City at home and today a fantastic performance by the boys at the Emirates. Wenger going into the game had never beaten Jose in the last 8 meetings and at full time Jose’s run continues.
First half goal from Cesar Azpilicueta following a defensive error put Chelsea in the ascendency and we never looked back after that. A strong defensive display put Arsenal at bay before the brilliant Juan Mata made it 2-0 to the away side, a win which was very well deserved.
Knocking Arsenal out is always sweet, but doing it to the high flying Arsenal in their own backyard was just an icing on the cake.
What we learned today?
Our bench is our strength
Chelsea doesn’t just have a strong starting eleven but a squad of players who can walk into most of the starting lineups of the premier league sides.
Chelsea fielded a side with 10 changes to the lineup that faced City with Cahill the only player keeping his place in the side. Chelsea today put on show their bench strength a team of ‘backups’ that was good enough to go to the league leaders and tame them in their own backyard.
Willian’s work ethic and solid Essien
Willian’s defensive work today was remarkable the way he tracked back and helped the defense out was commendable. Essien too was fantastic on his return to the starting lineup, had a really good game considering the lack of opportunities. We might be seeing more of him as the season progress that’s for sure.
The Perfect October:
It was a month that started off with talks of crisis at Chelsea. What Crisis? Chelsea had a perfect October, winning all their matches.
Matches Played: 6
Matches Won: 6
Goals Scored: 18
Goals Conceded: 3
Surely the crisis talks are well behind us now and in the last 2 games we have played we have sent out a warning to the teams that Chelsea is on its way UP!
Magnificent Juan
Juan is taking every opportunity presented to him by Jose and taking it in some style. What a fantastic goal to seal the win. It’s about time Mata will be a first team regular and this performance is surely going to be the one that gives Jose a lot of selection problems for the game on the weekend. Juan wants his place back!
Arsenal v Chelsea - Capital One Cup Fourth Round
Jose continues his run over Wenger
Wenger is now 9 games without a win against Jose and if we continue to build on the early season success this run is not going to end anytime soon.
