Jose Mourinho says young Chelsea star is amongst best in Europe

New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that his new signing is one of the best prospects in Europe.Jose Mourinho has hailed Chelsea youngster Marco Van Ginkel as one of the best in his age group in Europe.
The 20 year-old Dutchman completed a move to Stamford Bridge last week after coming through as a youth player at Vitesse Arnhem, and his new Portuguese boss has been impressed by what he has seen.
“Marco is one of the best prospects in European football right now,” said Mourinho to the Independent.
“I have been following him for a long time. He has great potential. We do not have to press him too much in the beginning because we want to help him settle into the Premier League.
“Chelsea is investing in the long term and this kid has a great future.”
Van Ginkel has already played 111 times for Vitesse, breaking through in April 2010, and scored 23 goals for the club before he sealed a transfer to Chelsea.
The young central midfielder has recently earned his first cap for the Netherlands, after 17 appearances for the Under-21 side in which he scored three goals.
He has scored 16 of his club level goals so far with his favoured right foot, five with his left and two headers, and will only improve at Chelsea.
Similar in playing style to Frank Lampard, Van Ginkel already seems to have that effortless timing of movement, with late runs into the box making it difficult for opposition defenders to pick him up.
That explains his already credible scoring record of around one in five, and Mourinho appears optimistic that Van Ginkel will adapt to the Premier League.
A tall player at 6’1″, Van Ginkel wins many of his aerial duels, is decent with both feet and strong on the ball.
A season with Frank Lampard as mentor could ultimately see the England international midfielder help to develop his own successor.
